Planet Consulting Develops a Custom Application for Mutual of Omaha

Mutual of Omaha is a leading Fortune 500 insurance provider. The company has over 5,000 independent sales agents and brokers that represent and sell Mutual of Omaha’s group and individual worksite/voluntary insurance products across the United States.

The Problem

Mutual of Omaha needed an electronic enrollment application system that could streamline the insurance enrollment process and reduce processing costs associated with its current paper-based application enrollments.

The Solution

Planet Consulting developed an electronic enrollment application system—Enroll1—to facilitate enrollment for several Mutual of Omaha products. Using Enroll1, sales agents can enroll participants through a user-friendly rich client application. Once the enrollment process is complete, the agent or broker then synchronizes the data to a central repository hosted and managed by Planet Consulting. The enrollment data is then formatted and sent electronically to Mutual of Omaha’s third-party administrator to complete the enrollment process.

Enroll1 allows employees in corporations nationwide to enroll electronically for Mutual of Omaha’s group and individual worksite/voluntary insurance products. As a result, companies who use the new solution are able to eliminate the traditional paper-based enrollment process, reduce data entry errors and save costs associated with completing and processing paper-based enrollment applications.

  • Data consolidation and synchronization

The Benefits

Enroll1 provided Mutual of Omaha with an immediate return on investment. The company has realized reduced costs associated with processing enrollment applications. The costs have been reduced from over $2.50 per enrollee to approximately $0.50.
