Planet Consulting & ACM Custom Develop a HIPAA-Compliant Portal

Ancillary Care Management (ACM) is a California-based e-healthcare company focused on facilitating care outside of the hospital. ACM was founded on the premise that technology can provide a platform to efficiently manage and link the participants in non-hospital care.

The Problem

Home healthcare is an increasingly significant piece of the care continuum. However, home healthcare also brings a variety of challenges in the form of communication, administration, cost control and care management. To address these challenges, ACM sought a Web portal that would streamline communication processes and reduce transaction costs between patients, hospitals, clinicians, payers and providers.

The Solution

With the help of Planet Consulting, ACM custom developed ACMCentral.com, an integrated, Web portal that provides a suite of online tools, applications and services that address all aspects of home healthcare.

Planet and ACM originally designed and developed ACMCentral.com on a Microsoft Windows NT, VB, ASP, COM platform. Since then, site functionality and technology have evolved, and the portal now operates on Microsoft's .NET platform and technologies (i.e. Windows 2003, SQL 2000, BizTalk, Web Services, C#, ASP.Net, VB.Net). Since the initial rollout and deployment in 1999, Planet Consulting has hosted and managed the portal and its applications in its secure state-of-the-art data center facility.

This Web portal solution has streamlined the way payers, providers, hospitals and clinicians transact business. Key components of ACMCentral.com include:

  • Claims Management
  • Authorization Management
  • Supply Management
  • Wound Management
  • Care Plan Oversight

The ACMCentral.com portal ultimately manages all aspects of ancillary care and is fully compliant with HIPPA regulations.

The Benefits

ACMCentral.com provides real-time, secure Web access to critical data for both payers and providers. It is interoperable and seamlessly integrates into legacy systems without causing downtime. By virtually eliminating data entry errors and providing real-time pricing and management of ancillary care management, ACM has reduced processing costs approximately 15 percent since implementing ACMCentral.com.

To date, ACM has migrated more than 25 payers, providers, hospitals and clinicians on to the platform, facilitating claims processing for over 30 million participants for companies such as, United Healthcare, AETNA, Horizon Healthcare, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and WelComm, just to name a few.
