History
For over a decade, Planet has been providing comprehensive Information Technology solutions for leading area companies. Founded in 1996, Planet's goal of helping companies use technology more effectively was introduced to the area, creating a tremendous resource in the constantly changing arena of Information Technology Management.
Over the next few years, Planet completed some strategic acquisitions furthering its expansion. Meanwhile, Planet's innovative systems were recognized with three Top 25 Fastest Growing Company in Omaha awards and just four years after the company launch, Planet was only the 33rd company in the world to achieve Gold Certification from Microsoft.
In 2001, Planet was acquired by CSG Systems and over the next several years their growth continued through some key partnerships. In 2005, Planet completed a management buy back of the company from CSG Systems. In 2009, ConnectIT Staffing merged with Planet, expanding Planet's current operations.
Executives
Joe Schwaller
Joe Schwaller was named President of Planet Consulting in 2009. He brings a unique set of skills to Planet with experience on both the supply and demand sides of the IT consulting and staffing business. Schwaller purchased Connect IT Staffing in 2007 and led that firm until its merger with Planet. Prior to that, Schwaller spent nearly 20 years as a corporate IT executive in Omaha, holding a variety of software development, production, operations and executive positions with InfoUSA and Oriental Trading Company. Schwaller holds a Bachelor's degree from Iowa State University with a double major in computer science and business.
Mark Spurgeon
Mark Spurgeon is currently serving as Vice President of Business Development. Spurgeon is a key member of the Planet team, serving in a number of corporate roles since joining the firm in 1998. He joined Planet after a 10-year career with ACI Worldwide. His experience began in the technical programming arena and he has complemented this over the last 12 years with various business development roles including customer relations, project management, marketing, and sales engagements. Spurgeon adds an array of international customer relations and management experience through his experience with ACI Worldwide's international clients. Spurgeon holds a Master's degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska-Omaha
